Annual Teaching Conference Features Dr. Saundra McGuire

Dr. Saundra Yancy McGuire delivered the keynote address to over 200 faculty from Temple and area universities on January 10 at Temple's 15th Annual Faculty Conference on Teaching Excellence. Dr. McGuire, a nationally-recognized expert on improving student learning, director emerita of the Center for Academic Success at Louisiana State University and former professor of chemistry at Cornell University, is the author of Teaching Students How to Learn.

In the keynote address and breakout sessions, faculty received tips and resources for teaching students about metacognition to make them better learners, and discussed with colleagues strategies that might work best in their contexts. Faculty also had opportunities to learn about some of the teaching innovations that their colleagues have been implementing.
