Dear Colleagues,
We hope that you are enjoying the beginning of summer. As we look ahead, we want to bring an important university-wide initiative —Accessible Temple—to your attention. This initiative is designed to ensure that all university websites and digital materials are accessible and in compliance with the Department of Justice’s Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the new ADA Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, which go into effect April 2026.
Achieving the goal of an accessible Temple will require the active and willing participation of faculty and staff in making all digital materials at Temple accessible.
The Center for the Advancement of Teaching and the Digital Accessibility Team will be reaching out in the coming weeks with additional information. Beginning on August 4, Temple will provide: training and development programs and resources; software to evaluate current materials for accessibility; and technical support to help you make sure that all web content and mobile applications, course materials, general administrative documentation and presentation materials are accessible to people with disabilities.
We have a shared responsibility to provide inclusive and accessible materials for our community, and we encourage you to participate in training as early as possible and to utilize the resources that Temple will provide.
We thank you in advance for helping move our university forward.
Sincerely,
Larry Brandolph
Vice President for Information Technology
Jen Wood
Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs
