Our aim is to conduct a meta-analysis on empirical studies that have examined the relations between personal (e.g., personality) and contextual factors (e.g., motivational climate) with doping (i.e., unlawful use of substances to enhance performance) intentions and behaviours. I was a police officer in CT and know cops who were there at the school shooting. For years I daily dealt with mentally ill individuals that were NOT violent and some that were. Including a situation where two of my fellow officers were murdered at a police station. I've spent hundreds of hours with mentally ill individuals who were drug addicts and alcoholics (lots of homeless and hookers are mentally ill and addicts). I can't speak for others but in my mind it has a lot to do with sport and exercise psychology. I practice clinical sport psychology. I'm not focused purely on performance enhancement. I often deal with real pathology and how it affects my athletes functioning both on and off the field. Athletes suffer from mental illness just as non athletes do. These messages affect us as practitioners merely because as sport and exercise professionals, we deal with real people. [...]45_BAY405-EAS86CFA42155F0834CA05DABAB320@phx.gbl0_0_ 7402 593 28_Re: I am Adam Lanza's mother14_Matt Domyancic18_bushidotnt@AOL.COM31_Mon, 17 Dec 2012 22:24:34 +0000399_utf-8 I deal with real people everyday too. And as I said I have my share of dealings with mentally ill people, including athletes with quirks. I guess you have a fair point to consider if many of the people on the list serv have practices that deal primarily with clinical services and not performance enhancement. Still seems like a stretch to me but something for me to consider chewing on. But many of us sport and exercise folks are psychologists by training so even when we are doing pure performance work, we aren't turning off the clinical lens and evaluating for pathology. And even non-clinically trained folks should have their ears perked for pathology in the event a referral is necessary for clinical issues. Don't know if you had the chance to read my blog post yet but I'll assume you didn't and sum up my thesis. The mind is encased in the body. The degree to which we support the body, we will have a optimally functional mind that we can then work with as Sport Psychology professionals. Sure, none of this is directly related to anything in the "tool box" except for the fact that none of that stuff would work if the people we work with are not mentally and emotionally stable to some extent. Jovan Belcher is just one recent case. Obviously his number of victims was significantly smaller but how much longer before a mentally ill athlete directs his or her violence toward a team, coaching staff, or the fans? How many of us are already working with athletes who consider violence to self and others on a regular basis? I do believe this is relevant for many of us. ONe thing we are pretty sure of now is that anger turns off the
frontal lobes. In other words, anger makes us stupid. Have any of you
ever done something stupid when you were angry?

Put another way, is there anyone on this list who has never said or
done a stupid act when angry? It is universal. We can all look back
with some embarrassment. Without the frontal lobes, we lack common
sense, empathy, good judgement. It is how the brain is wired. Any help appreciated.

Background and aims: Exercise dependence is implicated in the
development of eating disorders and muscle dysmorphic disorder. Although
conceptually these disorders represent similar pathologies they largely
affect different genders and result in opposite body composition,
appearance, and ideal-weight goals (i.e., to gain or lose/maintain

differences in exercise dependence symptoms may help to identify those
